About the Giving Common

The Giving Common is a unique online resource designed to increase knowledge about the nonprofit sector and encourage charitable giving in Massachusetts. The Boston Foundation launched the Giving Common in spring 2012. The Giving Common will engage Massachusetts nonprofits in completing profiles of their organizations’ programs, management, financial and governance structure which will be available via an online database to support the effectiveness of donors, funders, nonprofit organizations and other community stakeholders.

About the Training

In the training, we will review the benefits to completing a profile, training documents, tour the site and have a hands-on training on the computer.

Staff will be available to reply to one-on-one questions and help you with your profile.

After the training, you will know how to input materials, understand the tips and tricks of getting information into the system and have confidence in entering information.

Training is optional. We are available for one-on-one trainings as well if you need additional support or do not find a time that works for you.

Please bring your laptop if possible. We will have a limited number of laptops available for your use.

Who can attend a training? Who should attend training?

In order to attend a training, you must represent a qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity. Most nonprofits send the person who completes online grant applications to trainings as this person usually has the majority of the information needed.
